IMG Sponsors VND 10 Billion for the International Architecture Design Competition of the University of Economics – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-UEB)
Partnering with Education – Investing in the Future – IMG’s Commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility
On the afternoon of August 4, 2025, at Sofitel Saigon Plaza (Ho Chi Minh City), IMG Investment Joint Stock Company, in collaboration with the University of Economics – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-UEB) and the Ho Chi Minh City Planning Information Center, hosted the Launch Conference for the International Design Competition for the Landscape Architecture and Master Plan (scale 1/500) of the University’s new campus at Hoa Lac.
The entire cost of organizing the competition — valued at VND 10 billion — has been fully sponsored by IMG. This reflects a profound commitment to corporate social responsibility by Mr. Le Tu Minh, Chairman of IMG’s Board of Directors, who is also an alumnus of VNU-UEB. Returning to the place where his career began, Mr. Minh and IMG aspire to make a meaningful contribution towards building a landmark campus for future generations of students.
In his heartfelt remarks at the event, a representative of VNU-UEB expressed:

Shaping a New Landmark for Hoa Lac – The Future Science City
Founded in 2007, the University of Economics – VNU Hanoi (VNU-UEB) inherits a rich academic tradition from the Faculty of Political Economy, Hanoi General University (since 1974). With over 50 years of development, the University has firmly established itself as one of Vietnam’s leading institutions in education and research in the fields of economics, management, and business.
Aiming to become an application-oriented research university ranked alongside the world’s leading universities by 2050, VNU-UEB is advancing the development of a new campus within Hoa Lac University Town. Spanning more than 27 hectares, this campus will be a vital component of the Vietnam National University’s Hoa Lac complex. It is envisioned as a next-generation academic space, integrating education, research, innovation, international collaboration, and community engagement, while adhering to international standards in green architecture, smart technologies, sustainability, and cultural identity.

07 International Teams – Global Expertise and Standards
Organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Planning Information Center (under the Department of Construction of Ho Chi Minh City), the competition has attracted significant interest from prestigious consulting firms both domestically and internationally. After a rigorous pre-qualification round, seven outstanding teams were shortlisted to advance to Stage 2, including consortiums from France, Japan, Switzerland, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Vietnam.
At the Launch Conference on August 4, the Organizing Committee officially announced the competition regulations, design briefs, and implementation schedule, while also addressing technical inquiries from the participating teams.
Over the next 12 weeks (from August 4 to October 27, 2025), the selected teams will develop their design proposals for two key components: the Master Plan and the Landscape Architecture & Building Complex Design. The competition demands a high level of coherence, creativity, and practical feasibility in all proposals.

A Starting Point for a New Educational Landmark

The Organizing Committee hopes that the winning design will present an optimal planning and architectural solution — one that not only ensures functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability but also embodies cultural identity and international stature. The project is expected to become a landmark that elevates the University of Economics – VNU Hanoi (VNU-UEB) on the global map of higher education.
