On March 21, 2021, in Long An, the inauguration ceremony of Phuoc Dong Port Industrial Park was held, invested by IMG Phuoc Dong Company. The total area of ​​the industrial park is 128.8 hectares. The main traffic system has 4 lanes, 22m wide, the internal traffic system has 2 lanes, 14m wide, sidewalks, trees in the area. Phuoc Dong Industrial Park includes land for lease, ready-built factories, custom-built factories, warehouses. The terrain is suitable for both road and waterway traffic.

By road, Provincial Road 826B passes through the project connecting with National Highway 50 connecting Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, helping traffic from Ho Chi Minh City to the industrial park in less than 1 hour. By waterway, this area has a length of more than 3km bordering the Vam Co River and a future wharf, expected to ensure receiving ships up to 20,000 DWT. This is a transit port to the dynamic economic regions of the West.

According to the investor of Phuoc Dong Port Industrial Park, the Ministry of Transport has just sent an official dispatch to the People's Committee of Long An province; Vietnam Maritime Administration; IMG Phuoc Dong Joint Stock Company on adding Phuoc Dong port in Phuoc Dong commune, Can Duoc district, Long An province to the Southeast Seaport Group Planning (Group 5).

Accordingly, in Decision No. 1579/QD-TTg dated September 22, 2021 of the Prime Minister approving the Master Plan for the development of Vietnam's seaport system for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, the Vam Co port area belongs to Long An seaport, including the land and water area on the Vam Co river, from the downstream of My Loi bridge to the Saltwater Canal, with the function of directly serving the needs of the industrial park, with a general port, container, bulk cargo; ship size up to 20,000 tons suitable for the operating conditions of the Vam Co river route.
