Tonight (December 18), at the National Broadcasting Center (58 Quan Su, Hanoi), Voice of Vietnam (VOV) held the Award Ceremony for the Song Composition Contest ”Let’s sing Vietnam”.
Attending the program were Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Mr. Le Hai Binh, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Mr. Cao Huy, Deputy Head of the Government Office; Mr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Phan Viet Luong, Deputy Head of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Education; Mr. Ho Quang Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Mr. Lai Xuan Lam, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Agencies; Mr. Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; Associate Professor, Dr. Do Hong Quan, President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, President of the Vietnam Musicians Association; Mr. Jigjee Sereejav, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Vietnam...
On the VOV side, there were Mr. Do Tien Sy, Member of the Party Central Committee, General Director of VOV, Head of the Competition Steering Committee; Mr. Pham Manh Hung, Deputy General Director of VOV, Head of the Competition Organizing Committee; Mr. Tran Minh Hung, Deputy General Director of VOV; Mr. Vu Hai Quang, Deputy General Director of VOV and leaders of units under VOV.

The songwriting contest “Sing up Vietnam – Let’s sing Vietnam” was launched by VOV on February 3, 2012 to celebrate the success of the 13th National Congress of the Party, celebrating the country’s major holidays in 2021. This is the most extensive and comprehensive songwriting contest for professional and non-professional authors in the country, overseas Vietnamese, and foreign authors who want to share their love for Vietnam. From the launch of the contest to August 29, 2021, the Organizing Committee received 888 entries (including 2 categories: Main Song and Popular Song).
Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. Do Tien Sy, member of the Party Central Committee, General Director of VOV said: “For more than 76 years, the Voice of Vietnam has always accompanied the nation in important historical events of the country and connected the hearts of millions of Vietnamese people. Performance and Award Ceremony Program The songwriting contest “Sing up Vietnam - Let’s sing Vietnam” organized by the Voice of Vietnam aims to arouse national aspirations along with the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Nearly 1,000 works submitted to the contest have affirmed: The contest is a place for professional and amateur musicians as well as people living in the country, abroad and international friends to express their love for the country and the Vietnamese people. The songs praise the love for the homeland, about Vietnam, a rich, hospitable, resilient country that has overcome all difficulties and challenges, especially the recent Covid-19 pandemic.
Mr. Do Tien Sy also said that the works performed on the two nights of December 17-18 and some other works will continue to be staged to be announced on VOV's radio, television and digital platforms. The success of this competition will be the beginning of upcoming competitions organized by VOV to meet the people's need to enjoy culture and art, and at the same time, they are also practical actions to respond to the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; thereby, VOV continues to affirm the role and responsibility of a key, multimedia, multi-form, pioneering press agency in the field of communication, contributing with the whole country to new successes in the coming period.
Journalist Pham Manh Hung, Deputy General Director of VOV, Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, presented flowers to thank the Jury.
From 888 works, the Jury, including famous and prestigious musicians such as Associate Professor Dr. Do Hong Quan, Major General Duc Trinh, Trong Dai, Dinh Trung Can, Doan Nguyen, Quoc Trung, Giang Son, Do Bao, Duc Tri, Luu Ha An... worked impartially and seriously for many months to select 45 works to enter the Final round.
From 45 works entering the Final round, the Jury continued to select 16 works to award prizes, including: 1 Special Prize (worth 100 million VND); 1 First Prize (worth 50 million VND); 2 Second Prizes (each worth 25 million VND); 3 Third Prizes (each worth 15 million VND); 8 Encouragement Prizes (each worth 5 million VND) and Promising Prize (worth 15 million VND).
The Special Prize was awarded to the work “Invite you to visit this place, Vietnam always welcomes” by Mongolian musician and composer Ariunbold Dashdorj. Although the song was composed by a foreign musician, it can move many Vietnamese people. The lyrics depict a majestic, peaceful image with a thousand-year history, going through ups and downs, ruins to reach today's peace of Vietnam.
VOV General Director Do Tien Sy and Associate Professor, Doctor - Musician Do Hong Quan presented First Prize to musician Tuan Phuong and poet Le Tu Minh.
The First Prize went to the song “My Homeland Vietnam” (Music: Tuan Phuong; Poetry: Le Tu Minh). The 2 Second Prizes went to the songs “The Majestic Heart of Vietnam” (Nguyen Nhu Thang) and “Our Fatherland, the Flags Fly” (Nguyen Cuong). The 3 Third Prizes went to the songs “Proud of the Homeland Vietnam” (Vu Thi Huyen Ngoc), “Aspiration for Power” (Ho Trong Tuan), “Extraordinary Desire” (Vu Minh Tam).
8 Encouragement Prizes went to the songs “Vietnam Shines Brightly in the Future” (Nguyen Minh Hieu), “Thank You Hearts That Love People” (Pham Viet Tuan), “Chim Gao Bay Ve” (Ngo Tu Lap), “Vietnam in My Heart” (Nguyen Trong Duy), “Join Hands to Weave Peace” (Tran Quoc Dat), “Vietnam in My Heart” (Nguyen Duc Huy), “Amazing Vietnam” (Nguyen Thanh Long), “I Proud to Be the Future of Vietnam” (Hoang Hong Ngoc). The Prospect Prize went to the song “Vietnam on a New Sunny Day” (Ta Duy Tuan).
Due to the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, some musicians are unable to come to receive the awards, the Organizing Committee will send the awards by post or deliver them to the musicians.
Overall assessment of the winning works, Associate Professor, Doctor - Musician Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Jury, said: “Due to the large number of works submitted to the competition, it was very difficult to select 16 works of the highest quality for the main awards. The Jury worked very seriously, scientifically, and promoted transparency, through many rounds over a long period of time to get the final results. The winning works are all songs that express the hearts and feelings of the musicians through singing, conveyed to the audience according to the themes set by the Organizing Committee. Especially in the past 2 years, the country has faced many difficulties, sacrifices, losses... these songs have had even more influence and impact, have the power to attract, spread the spirit of solidarity and positive energy to the public.
In addition to traditional writing styles, the compositions also have a breath of new music, young music, close to today's life. The awarded musicians are also diverse in age. This shows an increasingly bright future for Vietnamese music.

The award ceremony of the songwriting contest "Sing up Vietnam - Let's sing Vietnam" was televised live on VOVTV, VTC1 channels; live radio on VOV1, VOV3; online on VOV.VN, VTC Now, VTC News and VOV's digital platforms./.
