On the afternoon of August 23, Phuoc Dong Port Industrial Park attended the Conference on promoting investment cooperation and dialogue with Japanese enterprises in 2022 organized by the People’s Committee of Long An province. Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council - Nguyen Van Duoc; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Nguyen Thanh Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee - Nguyen Van Ut; Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City - Watanabe Nobuhiro; Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Ho Chi Minh City Office - Matsumoto Nobuyuki; many enterprises who are investors from Japan attended.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Van Ut said: After nearly 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan in 1973, the exchange activities between the two countries have been increasingly expanded and deepened. On the basis of that good relationship, the government and people of Long An are very interested in building and developing cooperative relationships with Japanese localities in many fields, especially in bilateral economic cooperation. Long An is very honored to be interested by the Japanese investor community, as well as chosen to implement investment projects, expand business activities and succeed.

At the conference, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment - Huynh Van Son conveyed a lot of information about the potential, advantages, and development orientation of the province. In the development strategy, Long An plans 3 distinct regions. In which, region 1 is oriented to develop high-tech agriculture, eco-tourism and border gate economy. This is the region that ensures food security and provides raw materials for the development of the processing industry. Region 2 is the buffer zone between region 1 and region 3, surrounded by the two rivers Vam Co Dong and Vam Co Tay, oriented to develop renewable energy projects and riverside ecological urban areas. Region 3 includes districts adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City, planned to develop satellite urban areas and industrial parks and clusters. Long An also has outstanding advantages in maritime transport, inland waterways, and international maritime.

Determining that transport infrastructure is a prerequisite for socio-economic development and to effectively promote the role of regional linkage, Long An has mobilized resources to deploy investment to complete a series of key transport projects. Currently, Long An continues to focus on synchronously deploying investment in inter-regional transport projects connecting provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta with Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Southeast region. At the same time, connecting smoothly between localities in the province. Enterprises investing in Long An will easily connect with the world and facilitate import and export activities, helping enterprises shorten time, costs, and increase competitiveness.

On this occasion, Chief Representative of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) - Ho Chi Minh City Office - Matsumoto Nobuyuki presented the forecast of investment trends in the coming time. In addition, representative of the Youth Development Support Fund (FYE) - Nguyen Cam Chi presented on innovation and promoting human resources. Thereby, Ms. Nguyen Cam Chi commented that although human resources in Long An in particular and the Mekong Delta in general are abundant, the quality of human resources is still a weakness that hinders development. Some recommendations to improve the quality of Long An's human resources in the period up to 2025, with a vision to 2030, were also made.

Within the framework of the conference, Long An provincial authorities met with Japanese investors and enterprises operating in Long An province. On this occasion, enterprises reflected on difficulties in applying for work permits for foreigners; poor infrastructure in some industrial parks, especially traffic infrastructure; spontaneous markets near industrial parks causing congestion and potential traffic safety risks; tax procedure inspections, etc. Thereby, enterprises recommended and proposed solutions to difficulties to help enterprises operate better and better. Through the recommendations of enterprises, provincial leaders directed relevant units, departments, and localities to directly respond and promptly resolve related issues within their authority.

Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Long An province - Saigon Telecommunication Technology Joint Stock Company (SaiGonTel) - Youth Development Support Fund (FYE) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in research, training and human resource development.
SaiGonTel - ISPACE Cyber Security College (ISPACE) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in training highly skilled human resources according to Japanese standards and supplying human resources.

At the end of the conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Van Ut emphasized that the conference took place in a positive, friendly and open spirit, promoting investment attraction, creating a turning point in realizing the dynamic and key projects that have been nurtured over the past time of the province. Through the conference, there will be more specific working connections between Long An province and Japanese enterprises, bringing more practical results, with the ultimate goal of further enhancing mutual understanding and opening up many cooperation opportunities to accompany each other in developing and succeeding together.

Regarding the difficulties and obstacles that Japanese enterprises are facing in the process of production and business activities, the Provincial People's Committee assigned relevant sectors and localities to urgently deploy and resolve them for enterprises.
