At a concert at the Moscow Conservatory on the evening of May 6th, Anna Aglatova, a leading soloist from Russia, made a strong impression by performing a Vietnamese romance titled ’Back to Mother’, composed by musician Le Tu Minh. The collaboration between the Russian artist and the Vietnamese musical piece created a significant highlight in the program ’Gems of Music from Russia and Vietnam

The program 'Gems of Music from Russia and Vietnam' was not just an opportunity to showcase outstanding works from both countries, but also a chance to connect and honor the shared cultural and humanitarian values of both nations. The presence of Anna Aglatova and the romance 'Back to Mother' made the program even more special, contributing to fostering the spirit of friendship and solidarity between Russia and Vietnam in the field of musical arts.

During the performance, musician Le Tu Minh shared:

Le Tu Minh: "Today is a very important event, where Vietnamese musicians have the opportunity to perform in a large concert hall, and this is also an occasion for Vietnamese people to present their own works. This event is a people-to-people diplomatic activity, co-organized by the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association. It is great that this event takes place at such an important time, marking the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory and the 79th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany, which are significant events for both nations, marking a major development for both Russia and Vietnam. We and the Chairman of the Russian Musicians' Association are honored to contribute our efforts to express the voices of peace-loving people and the unity of the two nations. We also discuss among ourselves what we can do for the love between the two nations and what we can do for world music. Although I know we are still very small compared to the talents of Vietnam and Russia, whether big or small, we must still strive to contribute."

Reporter: "So how do you define the artistic value of the show?"

Le Tu Minh: "The artistic value here firstly refers to the professional aspect; the works performed here or the works of the composers performed here must be highly regarded by the professional community. And secondly, it must have some significance, whether it's diplomatic or political. Therefore, all of our works strive to meet those criteria, and especially to connect the solidarity between the two nations, friendship, and that is something we continue to think about and must do.

Reporter: "Which piece do you find most compelling in today's program?"

Le Tu Minh: "Today, I have selected 3 pieces.
The first piece is 'Oh, Vom Co River', a composition I wrote inspired by the Vom Co River flowing through Tien Giang, Long An, and parts of Ho Chi Minh City. It's a serene river that can be found across Vietnam, but I began writing it from the perspective of the people in the Mekong Delta region, and it's a piece that I particularly enjoy composing.
The second piece is 'Back to Mother', a composition depicting the emotional connection between a child and their mother, as my own mother has passed away. In essence, it reflects the sentiments people hold towards their homeland, evoking images of mothers from the past.
The third piece is 'Revival', perhaps my favorite among them. 'Revival' portrays life emerging from forest fires, barren lands, and epidemics. Truth be told, when I compose, I often think of the landscapes of Russia. In the winter, everything is blanketed in the harshest ice, but come spring, life springs forth. It symbolizes a resilient revival, not just of humans and nature, but of the Russian and Vietnamese people. Every song I write carries a theme, and this one speaks to the struggles of humanity. Despite the hardships, such as the Covid pandemic, if we refrain from pessimism, life will become beautiful again. This sentiment encapsulates the essence of today's program. And I would like to express my gratitude to Thong Tan Xa, their questions were truly insightful."
